Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers from the Nara team about accounts, syncing, subscriptions, and how we keep your data safe.

Accounts & setup

Getting started

Everything you need to connect banks and feel confident on day one.

Do I need to link every account before Nara is useful?

Start with the account you check daily—usually a primary checking account. Once Nara builds a baseline of your spending, you can add savings, credit cards, or manual envelopes whenever you’re ready.

How long does the first sync take?

Most banks finish within 30–90 seconds. Larger institutions that return several months of history can take up to a few minutes. You can leave the screen; Nara processes the data quietly and notifies you when transactions arrive.

Can I track cash or offline accounts manually?

Yes. Tap Accounts → + and choose Track manually. Manual accounts behave like linked ones—you can log balances, categorize transactions, and include them in plans.

Sync & devices

Staying in sync

Keep your household on the same page without worrying about version conflicts.

How do I enable iCloud Sync?

Go to Settings → Sync and toggle on iCloud. Make sure you’re signed into the same Apple ID on each device. Apple handles the encrypted sync, so your data never touches our servers.

Does Nara work offline?

Yes. You can review transactions, edit plans, and log manual spending without a connection. Changes upload the next time you launch Nara with internet access.

What if my bank connection expires?

Some institutions require periodic re-authentication. Nara will prompt you with a banner—tap it, follow the secure Plaid flow, and your connection resumes without losing history.

Billing & privacy

Subscriptions & security

How we handle pricing, refunds, and your personal information.

Is there a free tier?

Yes—core tracking, manual accounts, and weekly insights are free. Nara Plus unlocks automation, multi-device sync, and advanced planning tools once you’re ready to upgrade.

How do I manage or cancel Nara Plus?

Purchases go through your Apple ID. Open Settings → Nara Plus and tap Manage subscription to jump directly into the App Store’s subscription screen where you can change or cancel anytime.

Where is my data stored?

Financial data stays on your device and, if enabled, in your iCloud account. We only store anonymized metadata needed for diagnostics and the information you explicitly send (like feedback emails). Read the full Privacy Policy for details.
